Write Felix a letter.

We  begin the "Felix" geography unit using the book "Letters from Felix: A Little Rabbit on a World Tour" the story of an adorable rabbit that gets lost in the airport and ends up traveling all over the world.

We read the first part of the story including the 1st letter from Felix.  Felix is now in London, England.  

Activities: 

Passports: Each child makes a passport.  After studying each country Felix visits, the children write or draw a picture of that country in their passports.

Suitcases: The children each have a paper laminated suitcase that they keep a travel journal and their passport.  After studying each country the children write and/or draw important facts about the country in their travel journals, color the country flag and tape a sticker of the country to the outside of their suitcases.

Make a paper Felix for each child to send and a letter from Felix to a relative out of state or even out of the country.   In the letter explain that the children are learning about geography and would like for them to send a postcard of their state or country.  Include your school's address for the postcards to be sent back to.   Display all the postcards received around a big map of the United States.  Above the map have the children paint the letters spelling:  WHERE IN THE WORLD IS FELIX?

WELCOME HOME FELIX!
After we have read the entire Felix book and we have studied about each of the countries that Felix visited, we have a party to welcome home Felix.

1.We make bunny ears.
2.  We color paper Felix's and cut out paper suitcases telling where our Felix traveled to.
3.  We design a postcard and draw and write about the place we would like to visit the most.
4.  We eat orange bunny food like carrots, oranges,  and cheetos.
We received postcards from all over the United States and a postcard was sent from Paris!
