During our reading workshop time, my children have
the opportunity to choose one of the daily 5 stations
(read to self, read with someone, work on writing,
listen to reading, and working with words) while I meet
with small groups (guided reading or strategy) or hold
individual conferences. These stations are in addition
to our separate writing, partner reading, self-selected
reading, phonics, and quiet reading time.

The book,
The Daily Five, outlines how to help
children build stamina for each segment and how to
manage the organization of it all.

1. Read to self
